Welp! It’s safe to say that Kendrick Lamar is not playing the radio with your favorite rapper!
Lamar, already a great lyricist, has hopped on Detroit native Big Sean’s song “Control” which did not make the final cut for his new album ‘Hall Of Fame’. The song did not make the final cut because of sample clearance according to Sean, but I am tempted to think it didn’t make the album because Kendrick Lamar clearly slays the track, and his bars steam roll over Big Sean’s and Jay Electronica verses. Kinda like when EM hopped on Jay-Z’s “Renegade“.
Lamar spits this on the track:
heard the barbershops be in great debates all the time
Bout who’s the best MC? Kendrick, Jigga and Nas
Eminem, Andre 3000, the rest of y’all
New n-ggas just new n-ggas, don’t get involved
I’m usually homeboys with the same n-ggas I’m rhymin wit
But this is hip hop and them n-ggas should know what time it is
And that goes for Jermaine Cole, Big K.R.I.T., Wale, Pusha T, Meek Mill, A$AP Rocky, Drake, Big Sean, Jay Electron‘, Tyler, Mac Miller
I got love for you all but I’m tryna murder you n-ggas
Tryna make sure your core fans never heard of you n-ggas
All I i can say is HOLY SHIT BATMAN! Kendrick just took hip hop back to its pure essence. While the verse is scathing it is respectful at the same time, and calls his peers to the carpet. Kendrick is making these new guys step their game up. This is the type of hip hop music that I like to hear. Hopefully everyone can keep their beefs on wax, and just take this as a friendly competition.
