Album Review: Winter Loverland- Tamar Braxton

She!Me!Her! AKA SlayMar AKA Tamar Braxton’s new Christmas album recently dropped, and I like to give an album a few listens before I register my opinion. I must say that Mrs. Herbert did her thing on this Christmas album. Tamar Braxton puts her own personal spin on some her your favorite holiday standards. The album fits right into what she gave Tamartians on Love & War. She opens the album with a bumping rendition of, Sleigh Ride, which happens to be one of my favorites off the album.  Tamar showcases her sultry side on Santa Baby, which sounds like a throwback to Marilyn Monroe.

Tamar shines on Away in a Manger/Little Drummer Boy, the syncopation on the Little Drummer Boy is very smart in my opinion and it puts a new spin on one of my favorite holiday classics.  The interlude that should have been a whole song is, The Chipmunk Song(Christmas Don’t Be Late) which features Trina Braxton. The sisters harmonies weave seamlessly together on this song, and Tamar’s runs are definitely on point. I love when The Braxton sisters sing together this was a great addition to the album. Tamar gave us a song in the vein of, What Do the Lonely Do at Christmas, by the Emotions with, She Can Have You. She also soar on, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.

Winter Loverland as a whole is great holiday album, which can only add to Tamar’s already rising star. If you like holiday music this album is definitely worth a listen. I enjoyed it.
