Hot damn hoe here we go again!
In a recent article in XXL, Lil Kim said that female rapper don’t get the art of unity. *blinks, and looks blankly*
She had this to say,
You have other women out there who want to be by themselves. They don’t get the art of unity and what inspired that. You can’t come in the game and think, “Oh, okay, I’m going to be the only one out here. I don’t want to stand in the line with no other chicks.” It’s still a struggle because when a woman makes it to the top, it wasn’t like that when we were out. When we made it to the top, the real divas—me, Missy, Eve—we had no problem standing in a line. Look, let’s get this money. We did songs together. We just kept continuously doing it even when we didn’t like each other. We did photo shoots even when we couldn’t stand each other. It was more real. Nowadays, it’s just females are jealous. And they want to act like the girl who is responsible for all this doesn’t exist. That’s whack. That’s real corny, but things will change. That’s the one thing for certain—two things for sure. Things will change.
This is complete and utter BS Kimberly! How are you speaking about unity in female rap, and you can’t even squash a beef with fellow female rapper Foxy Brown. For years people have been begging for a collaboration between you and Foxy, but you two can’t seem to get it together, based upon a beef with unknown origins. If Nas and Jay-Z can kiss a make up, I am befuddled as to why it is you two ladies can’t. A song with Lil Kim and Foxy brown would set female rap on fire, and maybe start this female rapper unity movement that you speak of Kimberly! It’s not like you and Inga are doing anything at the moment anyway.
This whole article is directed at Nicki Minaj, who Kim feels stole her style. Now I will be the first to say that Nicki Minaj did take elements from Lil Kim’s style, and she paid homage to her, but how long does she have to keep saying thank you and kissing your ass? We get it, Nicki got on using elements of your style, but the thing is she was able to take your style and take it further. What artist doesn’t borrow? Kimberly you need to send Madonna a check because a good bit of your persona is straight from her. Hence the bed on stage during the No Way Out Tour, and many other elements.
Kimberly practice what you preach NAH! Work out whatever issues you have with Foxy and let’s get this collaboration on and popping! It would be good for hip hop and good for your career. Lil Kim is said to be working on documentary *yawns* and mixtape *yawns*
