Bloggers Kid Fury & Crissle hosts of The Read Podcast, brought their brand of no-nonsense comedy to the Atlanta, Georgia this past Sunday. The live show took place at The Woodruff Arts Center located in Midtown Atlanta. Door opened at 4:30 PM and the show started at 5:30PM. If you’re not familiar with the The Read podcast, please get familiar! Let me bring you up to speed if you’re not an avid listener like myself. The podcast normally starts with a Black Excellence segment, which highlights the achievement of African-Americans. The next segment is the hot topics segment, where Kid Fury and Crissle shade your favs, and no one is off-limits except of course The Carters. The third segment is listener letters, where Kid Fury and Crissle give candid advice to listeners and answer questions. The last segment is “The Read,” where Kid Fury and Crissle read someone or something for filth. They sometimes pass “The Read” to listeners who send in “reads” via email. The podcast is very entertaining, and even better in person!
My friend and I arrived a little bit after the doors opened, after having a few drinks. Suffice to say we were ready to turn up. The event was well-organized, we found a seat fairly close, but we were asked to move closer to front(2nd row) by Assante(Kid Fury and Crissle’s friend) who was doing his best church usher to get all the seats filled. The mood was set by the sounds of Crime Mob, T.I., and Young Dro just to name a few. So you already know *Big Freedia voice* what type foolishness was about to commence, and guess what? I was completely THERE for it! After warming up the crowd Assante turned it over to Kid Fury and Crissle and it was business as usual.
The hot topics segment included discussions of the The On The Run HBO concert special that aired on Saturday and of course it was all love. Keyshia Coleslaw’s
Cole’s fight with Birdman’s side-chick(yes apparently Keyshia is on the rebound from Losing Isaiah( Daniel “Boobie” Gibson). Celebrity nudes and Iggy Azalea were also discussed. For the listener letter segment, members from the audience were allowed to ask questions at mic stands placed near the front of the auditorium. Kid Fury and Crissle held no punches, and gave advice straight with no chaser, and we the audience also added in our two cents so that made it all the more better.
During “The Read” portion of the show, Crissle read the New York Times reporter who tried to come for Shonda Rhimes(the brains behind Scandal). Let me just say that Crissle read the reporter for blood and flith, and she deserved it! Kid Fury really didn’t have read, but he did try to read Crissle for not being a fan of Migos. I must agree with Crissle that Migos is trash, but it’s good trash! As I always say everyone needs a little ratchet in their life and Migos provides me with just enough. Throw on Fight Night and watch me turn into a ratcheteer! All in all it was an awesome show, and I want to congratulate Kid Fury and Crissle on their success. The sky is the limit for these two!
