New Music: Black Parade – Beyoncé

Beyoncé dropped a new song titled Black Parade, in celebration of Juneteenth. The song is Black AF! It’s just what we needed during these tumultuous times. With lyrics like

I’m goin’ back to the South
I’m goin’ back, back, back, back
Where my roots ain’t watered down
Growin’, growin’ like a Baobab tree

Of life on fertile ground, ancestors put me on game
Ankh charm on gold chains, with my Oshun energy, oh
Drip all on me, woo, Ankh or the Dashiki print
Hol’ up, don’t I smell like such a nag champa incense?
Yeah, pure ice (Ice), ice (Ice), buss down
Uh, flooded (Flooded), flooded (Flooded), on my wrist, out
Ooh, goin’ up, goin’ up, motherland, motherland drip on me
Ooh, melanin, melanin, my drip is skin deep, like
Ooh, motherland, motherland, motherland, motherland drip on me

It’s safe to say Bey isn’t here to play! In addition to dropping the song she also unveiled the Black Parade Route a directory of Black owned businesses created in partnership with Zerina Akers and @black.owned.everything. Proceeds from the song will go toward her BeyGOOD Black Business Impact Fund. A message at the directory site reads, “Happy Juneteenth. Being Black is your activism. Black excellence is a form of protest. Black joy is your right.”

Whut say you?
