[REVIEW]Love Life-Tamia

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, Tamia is one the most underrated singers!  She put a move on my heart ever since she hit the scene! Many of her albums have been slept on and not properly promoted, but that is neither here nor there. Here recently(Tuesday) Tamia dropped a new album titled Love Life.

I have been anticipating this album since I heard the first offering, Sandwich And A Soda, which some people said was beneath her, I totally  disagree with this. The first single might not be in the vein of Tamia’s usual work, but it was released solely to generate buzz for this new album, which I believe it did. She followed up Stuck With Me, which is absolutely amazing and vintage Tamia. So with those two offering I was fully ready to receive this new album.

From top to bottom this album is amazing. I was able to listen to this album without skipping one track, which is the true test of whether an album is bad, good, or excellent.  Tamia covered all her bases with this album. She gave us a few up tempo songs, a few ballads, some sensual songs, and even a cover. It was the right mix of everything I needed. The album didn’t sound like it was all over the place, it was cohesive, which is important.

One of my favorite tracks on the album is Chaise Lounge on which Mrs. Hill shows you that she know how to please her husband after being apart ladies take note! Check it out below:

Another favorite of mine is Lipstick, which is gives me a Partition-esque feel without being took raunchy. You need to understand that Mrs. Hill will do anything for her man! Take notes! Check it out below:

Like You Do, is mid-tempo that I absolutely love, it uses a similar beat to R Kelly’s Remote Control Tami rides the beat effortlessly. Check it out below:

The other stand out for me is Tamia’s cover of Deniece Wiliams’s Black Butterfly. Now I am not a fan of artists covering classic songs unless they are guaranteed to knock it out the park, and in this case Tamia did just that. Check it out below:

Love Life is an amazing album, a breath of fresh air if you will. This album serves as a triumphant return for Tamia. It has all the components that make a good R&B album: great vocals, good lyrics, and good music. This album is worth a listen, several listens if I am being honest.

Final Rating: 5/5
